Travis Kelce Talked Taylor Swift Proposal Last Spring, Friend Says

Andrew Santino says Travis Kelce mentioned his plans to propose to Taylor Swift while the friends were golfing last spring.

Santino, an actor and comedian, recalled his conversation with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end during the Friday, September 12, edition of the “Pardon My Take” podcast. He said that when he last saw Kelce, “he said he was wanting to do it” — ask Swift to marry him. “We had golf together in, like, April or May. And yeah, he said he was [going to propose] but he didn’t say when.”

Santino said, “I don’t pry. It’s like that thing about the memes online where women are like, ‘You golfed with your buddy. Like, what happened with his divorce?’ We didn’t talk about it.”

When Kelce hinted at a future proposal, Santino, 41, did not press him for details. 

“I’m not saying I don’t care. … I’m stoked,” he said of Kelce and Swift’s upcoming walk down the aisle. “ I hope it’s awesome! But I’m not gonna be like, ‘What day? When ya doing it? What’s going on?’”

Santino reached out to Kelce the day the engagement was announced on August 26. 

“We just Facetimed him to say congrats,” he said. “And he said, ‘What’s up?’ to my pops. … My dad was like, ‘Am I goin’? Do I get an invite?’ Actually it’d be funnier if he went and I didn’t go.”

Santino acknowledged that Kelce and Swift have a wide circle of friends, meaning that he might not receive an invitation to the wedding. 

“He’s got a lot of dogs from Ohio that he’s loyal to the foil on [who] will be there for sure,” he said. “But they grew up with him and everything. You know. I’m an adult friend. That’s a different — adult friends are different. We met later in life and I’m sure when they’re going down the list, she’ll get to Santino and be like, ‘I don’t know dude.’”

Swift and Kelce, both 35, began dating in July 2023 and went public with their relationship that September. The pop star made her podcast debut on “New Heights” on August 13 and gushed about the Super Bowl champion’s lasting friendships. 

“A huge green flag is that Travis has had the same friends since he was probably four years old,” Swift said. “He’s incredibly good at maintaining friendships. He’s so loyal, and his friends are equally loyal, and they’re just the funniest, most hilarious group of people.”

Kelce appeared on Santino’s podcast in December 2024, and Santino has guest starred on “New Heights,” which the athlete and his brother Jason Kelce cohost. 

“I doubt it. I mean, I highly doubt it dude,” Santino told “Pardon My Take” of his chances of attending the Travis-Taylor nuptials. “I don’t think I got that invite. You know she’s controlling that guest list. I’m not on that list. … Dude, Trav is my boy. I love him to death.”
