Paul Mescal Hung Out With Paul McCartney for Beatles Biopic Prep

Paul Mescal called Paul McCartney āan extraordinary man,ā and revealed that heās spent some time with the musician heās playing in Sam Mendesā four-part Beatles biopic.Ā
Speaking with IndieWire, Mescal said of McCartney, āTo spend any time ā itās a crazy sentence to say that Iāve spent time with that man, let alone play him.āĀ
Mescal didnāt share any more details about the project, or his time with McCartney, though when asked if he plannedĀ to sing in the film, he replied, āYeah, yeah, absolutely yeah.āĀ
Along with Mescal as McCartney, the Beatles films will star Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Earlier this year, Keoghan revealed that heād spent some time with the drummer, telling Jimmy Kimmel he went to Starrās house, chatted with him, and watched him play the drums a bit.Ā
Keoghan then quipped, āHe asked me to play, but I wasnāt playing the drums for Ringo⦠It was sort of one of those moments where youāre just in awe and you just froze.ā
Mendesā Beatles films ā collectively titled The Beatles ā A Four-Film Cinematic Event ā are set to arrive in April 2028. The movies have been described as the āfirst binge-able theatrical experience,ā though itās still unclear how the movies will be released, whether all at once or somewhat staggered.
While the four films will tell the story of the band, each film will have one of the members of the Fab Four at its center. When the project was officially announced earlier this year, Mendes said of telling the Beatlesā story in this way, āTheyāre four very different human beings. Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.ā
He added: āI just felt the story of the band was too huge to fit into a single movie, and that turning it into a TV miniseries just somehow didnāt feel right.ā
