Demi Lovato, Jimmy Butler Star

J Balvin is giving fans an inside look at how he approaches self-care — and he’s bringing some celebrity friends with him. Rolling Stone can exclusively premiere the trailer for A Great Day With J Balvin, a new docuseries coming to Peacock on Oct. 17.
“I love this show because it reflects on a moment we’ve gone through and how we overcame it, through the lens of a few of my friends and myself,” Balvin tells Rolling Stone.
The one-minute trailer shows Balvin meeting Demi Lovato at a rage room to “get all of our emotions out.” In another clip, Balvin and his “Downtown” collaborator Anitta align their chakras, and rap star Saweetie spills some advice: “You gotta move forward, not backward.”
The trailer also captures Balvin bonding with Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña, playing dominoes with Miami Heat player Jimmy Butler as the stars reflect on wins and failures, and cooking with David Beckham’s son Brooklyn. “I’ve never been prouder of anything in my life,” the model says.
“What makes any day a great day?” asks Balvin to start the trailer, before later teasing: “Join me in this journey. We are not what we have. We are what we are.” (Is that a Kesha reference?)
The show will feature six, 30-minute episodes, all premiering on Peacock on Oct. 17 with the goal of taking “audiences on a personal journey” as the reggaeton star “uncovers the secrets of a truly fulfilling life,” according to a show synopsis.
The new series will arrive roughly two months after the Colombian superstar released his album, Rayo, which features songs with Carin LeĂłn, Ryan Castro, Chencho Corleone, and Bad Gyal. The LP arrived after he was in a dark place several years ago.
“Maybe, that’s what I needed,” he told Rolling Stone at the time. “After you hit the floor for some reason, you bounce back.” He says he asked himself one question at the time: “Are you going to stay on the floor or are you going to use this as a trampoline?”
