Watch Chris Robinson Cover ‘Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)’ on ‘Kimmel’

Chris Robinson stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform a cover Otis Reddingâs 1966 track âFa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song).â The Black Crowes frontman was joined by Rachael Price and the late-night showâs house band, the Cletones, for the bluesy rendition.
Robinson told Jimmy Kimmel he selected the song because Redding is his âfavorite soul singer.â âBeing from Atlanta originally, R&B music, soul music, funk musicâitâs a big part of the rock ânâ roll we make,â he said.
Black Crowes recently released their 10th studio album, A Pound of Feathers, which was recorded with Nashville producer Jay Joyce. The band was also nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in February. Robinson spoke to Kimmel about the nomination and the bandâs new music, as well as his ongoing issue of forgetting his lyrics onstage.
Kimmel reminded Robinson of how he said in 2017 that he is ânot goingâ to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame if inducted. The musician explained that he used to be ânegative about the whole thing.â
âThings definitely changed,â he said. âI wasnât in the Black Crowes at that time I made that salacious comment. But it is true, the Black Crowes were kind of more famous, my brother and I, for hating each other than the songs and the music. It worked for Oasis. I donât know why it didnât work for us.â
Robinson and his brother Rich patched up their differences to reunite the band in 2019, which he said has been the most âfulfilling and gratifyingâ experience. âItâs been fantastic,â he noted.
Black Crowes recently appeared on Rolling Stoneâs Nashville Now podcast, during which Robinson claimed that his repaired relationship with Rich lit the way for Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher to do the same in 2025.
âOf course we did. Thereâs no doubt in my mind that we didnât,â he said. âI donât care what Noel or Liam say. They are that heavily influenced by how Rich and Iâs relationship is going. I would say weâre the barometer to their family dynamic. Thatâs just a fact. And Iâd like to see either of them deny it.â
