Taylor Swift Drops ‘Toy Story 5’ Song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’: Listen

It’s Nice to Have a Friend
Swift co-wrote and produced “I Knew It, I Knew You” with her long-time confidant Jack Antonoff
Jessie gets her flowers in Taylor Swiftâs Toy Story 5 song âI Knew It, I Knew You.â The track pulls inspiration from the Pixar seriesâ beloved character, who is featured on the art for the track, and marks a return to Swiftâs country roots.
On the blissful track, Swift sings the catchy chorus, âI saw you, standing there in the light of the window/Wearing that same smile/Man, itâs been a while.â The star reunited with her longtime collaborator and friend Jack Antonoff to co-produce and co-write âI Knew It, I Knew Youâ (the duo last worked together on 2024âs The Tortured Poets Department).
The singer-songwriter announced the track earlier this week and expressed a deep admiration for the film series. âWriting this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once,â Swift said in an Instagram post alongside an adorable clip of her as a kid dressed as a cowgirl. The singer said being a Toy Story fan since she was five-year-old âis an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.â
Swift recorded three versions of âI Knew It, I Knew You,â with the acoustic and piano editions available exclusively on CD via her website.
Rumors of Swiftâs involvement with the fifth movie in the Toy Story series began back in late April, when her website briefly featured a countdown and transformed from her Showgirl aesthetic to Toy Storyâs iconic cloud wallpaper. While the countdown didnât lead anywhere, Toy Story-themed billboards with a massive âTSâ suddenly appeared on May 29. Pixar and Disney later shared videos of the placard to their Instagram accounts with Jessie dancing on the catwalk (plus a caption that referenced Swiftâs âShake It Offâ).
Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, in 2025 via Republic Records. Toy Story 5 will hit theaters on June 19; that day will also mark the 20th anniversary of Swiftâs debut single âTim McGraw.â
