Long-Shelved ‘The Savant’ Finally Arriving on Apple TV This Summer

Apple TVās long-shelved series The Savant, postponed after the Charlie Kirk assassination, will finally arrive on the streaming service this summer, star Jessica Chastain has revealed.
The limited series, which follows an undercover investigator played by Chastain who infiltrates domestic extremist groups to thwart catastrophic large-scale attacks, was scheduled to premiere in September 23, 2025, but was abruptly pulled from the schedule in the aftermath of Kirkās death on September 10. āWe appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date,ā Apple TV said at the time.
Over seven months later, no āfuture dateā was announced⦠until Chastain revealed on the red carpet that The Savant will finally be released this summer. āI can say before I was like āI donāt know if weāre gonna see it,ā now I can say: Weāre gonna see it,ā Chastain told Variety at a red carpet event Saturday.
While Apple TV has not officially announced a premiere date, Variety adds that The Savant will likely hit the streaming service in July, nearly 10 months after its initial release date.
Chastain previously voiced frustrationĀ with the decision to delay The Savant, writing on Instagram the day after the postponement that she was ānot aligned on the decision to pause the release.ā She noted theāunfortunate amount of violenceā in the U.S. that appeared to have no effect on if a show aired ā including hundreds of school shootings, theĀ attempted kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the failed assassinationĀ attempt on President Donald Trump, and the political assassination ofĀ two Minnesota Democratic representatives.
āThese incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted,āĀ Ā she wrote. āIāve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasnāt so relevant, unfortunately it is.The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever.āĀ
Chastain ended the lengthy note with a hint of skepticism about whether the series would ever air at all. āI remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon,ā she wrote. āUntil then, Iām wishing safety and strength for everyone, and Iāll let you know if and whenĀ The SavantĀ is released.ā
