The track is the first single off the musician’s new album, Sunday Best
Nick Jonas appeared on The Tonight Show to perform his recent song, āGut Punch.ā The musician began the emotional performance on the piano before standing up as the chorus kicked in. He was accompanied by a ballerina and two percussionists/dancers, who added a sense of dramatic flair.
Jonas released āGut Punchā on New Yearās Day. It is the first single from his forthcoming LP, Sunday Best, out Feb. 6 via Republic Records. The album marks the musicianās first solo effort in five years. He described it as a collection of ānew stories, candid thoughts, quiet walks home in the city, and snapshots of my life over these past few years.ā
āGut Punchā reflects on Jonasā self doubt. āI tend to be hyper critical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, āAm I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?’ā he shared in a statement when he released the song. āAs time goes by, the stress and complications of life will weigh on you. Itās important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.ā
Jonas first debuted āGut Punchā live in November while on tour with the Jonas Brothers in Las Vegas. He also performed it at theĀ groupās Samsung TV Plus New Yearās EveĀ show in Miami.
Jonas Brothers launched theirĀ Jonas20: Greetings From Your HometownĀ trek with a sold-out show on Aug. 10, 2025 at MetLife Stadium.
