Brittany Renner Demands $35,000 Monthly Child Support From P.J. Washington

Brittany Renner wishes to raise the allegedly low child support amount P.J. Washington, NBA player, pays for their four-year-old son. The current amount is insufficient for her expenditures since she shifted to California and is struggling financially; Renner thus says. The filing gave way to an intensely publicized debate about child support and its uses and amounts.

The story was first broken by TMZ and was later talked about by various commentators, including DJ Akademiks, who is of course justified, given that the details concern Rennerâs legal arguments. The brief argues that the child support of $5,500 was the amount of money mutually agreed to while Renner and Washington lived together in North Carolina. Since the latter part of last year, Renner and the child have since relocated to California, where the astronomical cost of living has rendered prior orders absolutely unusable. Along with the diminished revenue due to P.J. Washington exercising little to no visitation time, Renner has become financially hard-pressed.
Immediately, across the entire online community, the $35,000 a month for one child, which comes up to $420,000 a year, was attacked vehemently. The amount itself became the primary issue for opposing sides. One smart comment put it simply: â$420k a year for one kid??? Girl bye.â Another one just laid down the facts: â`My mom used to raise me on 35k a year she donât need NOTHING.â
Many began to place the blame on Renner with regard to her move to a pricier state. They all appeared to see it as a sly way of getting an excuse to ask for more money. âshe moved to california because it costs more to live there than in north carolina. with that being said she also moved so she can have a reason to ask for more money.â Another questioned plainly, âWhy tf she move to California if she canât afford to live there.â
This, of course, all returned back to the debate on what child support is meant for. Is child support to merely take care of the basic needs of the child or assurance for the child to lead a life of his own that resembles that of an affluent parent? The majority seemed to favor the former. âChild support isnât to support your lifestyle lady,â said one. Another one was much heavier their reasoning: âItâs called âchild supportâ not âgrown up support!!â Itâs your job as the CUSTODIAL Parent to have his ânecessitiesâ more than wants & as well HER WANTS!!â
Alternatives began being put forth, too. âCanât he buy food & clothes for the baby & keep receipts people should be able to do it that way. No1 needs 35k a month to raise a baby she will just have to buy cheaper things it is what it is.â A brief argument followed, with some agreeing that direct payments for the child might work best, while one warned against it, âthat donât work..trust me I tried that, all they gonna say is thatâs what u suppose to do.â
âSound like she need another job..â was the bare bones of the sentiment. User number two wasnât quite shy about sharing, âGo get a job you gold digging H0eeeee.â âTell her get a job thenâ was a further corroboration from somebody. That support was interrupted by the most laughable, âthat was the whole idea of her having a kid with a NBA player, so she would not have too.â
Amid the backlash, a few voices in support of Renner grew louder. The user, who expressed âShe should get all that. Yâall simps will learn,â felt the likes of Washington, a well-paid professional athlete, really should pay for his childâs standards of living. This, however, was just the small contradistinct minority against the overwhelming backlash against the demand for $35,000-a-month.

Public reactions to Brittany Rennerâs child support filing encapsulate the complex, usually hostile nature of these legal battles, especially when one parent is a public figure with immense wealth. The core of this case runs toward the definition of âneedsâ for a child when the parent is making millions on an income. While Renner asks for a level of living she deems appropriate, the public court has more or less voted her request down as ridiculous. At this point, the heavy decisions need to be made by the judge weighing the rigors of law amidst all this public frenzy around it.
