Glen Powell Does ‘Mrs. Doubtfire, But With Football’ in ‘Chad Powers’ Trailer

Hulu series about disgraced college quarterback, based on co-producer Eli Manning’s concept, premieres September 30
Glen Powell plays a disgraced college quarterback who attempts to rebuild his career in disguise in the upcoming Hulu series Chad Powers.
The streaming service shared the first trailer for the sports series Saturday, with Powellâs character explaining, âIâm gonna do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,â alluding to the 1993 comedy where Robin Williams assumed the identity of an elderly British nanny to spend time with his own children post-divorce. (Instead of posing as British, Powellâs character instead becomes West Virginian.)
Powellâs Russ Holliday is a hot-shot college QB whose career is forever tarnished after blowing âthe Big Gameâ by showboating. He then assumes the identity of âChad Powersâ â thanks to a wig, mustache and some face prosthetics â in an attempt to walk-on the South Georgia football team.
The series was produced by former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, with the latter also appearing in the show as a rival coach. It was Eli himself who created the âChad Powersâ character and concept back in 2022, when the retired QB donned disguise and assumed the name during walk-on tryouts for the Penn State football team in a video short:
In addition to Powell, Chad Powers also stars Steve Zahn as South Georgiaâs coach, Toby Huss, Clayne Crawford, and Wynn Everett, plus tons of cameos from the college football world. The series premieres on Hulu on September 30.
