‘The Simpsons’ Writer Dan Greaney Launches 2028 Presidential Bid

Dan Greaney, The Simpsons writer who accidentally prophesied Trump would become president of the United States, is now making his own 2028 bid for the White House.

Greaney announced his run in an Instagram video Tuesday, dressed in a massive grey wig and blue robe — a nod to his nickname as ā€œThe Prophet.ā€ Self-described as ā€œa progressive Republicanā€ in his bio, the writer-producer made his case for the presidency.

ā€œThe United States was founded on a transcendental insight that all men are created equal, but now Trump, Vance, the billionaires, careerists, and cowards in both parties have turned their backs on it. It’s money, power, and security for them, but not for you,ā€ Greaney said in his video. ā€œIn America, the government is supposed to work for everyone: democracy for all, accountability for all, prosperity for all. We must restore this.ā€

Greaney then took a moment to lament, ā€œI’d love to help, but I’m not a lawyer, I’m just a self-proclaimed prophet who went to law school, graduated, passed the bar.ā€ Suddenly realizing his potential, the writer ripped off his robe to reveal a suit underneath and dramatically declared, ā€œWait! I am a lawyer! Screw it. I can be a politician. I’m running for president. My platform, America for all.ā€

When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2016, Greaney called the episode ā€œa warning to America.ā€ He added, ā€œAnd that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.ā€
